Creativeness in time of quarantine

5th December 2020

We've been in quarantine for a few weeks now, and we, as artists, would be lying if we say that our creativeness hasn't been affected. Some days we feel so motivated that we prepare a checklist of new methods and techniques that we would like to try, but some other days, we don't know what to do at all.

This is why we decided to write this post, just in case your creative life has stopped because of the quarantine. Or you need a small push to start a new project.

Here is a shortlist of the things we have been doing in the last few days, it might be useful for you as you could get some ideas from it.

tote bag saying you're beautiful

A Tote Bag Design

You can start by choosing your target audience, for this tote bag design we decided women. The illustration was made on paper, scanned and then finally edited on Photoshop. Check previous posts to see how we did it step by step. Once this beautiful illustration was ready, we printed it out in our shop, Botticelli. Remember, we offer printing services, and you'll be helped by one of us in every step of the printing.

You can find the final product in the Gift section of our shop.

Small projects

You could consider a small and friendly project such as creating art in surfaces that wouldn't usually think. One of our customers sent us this great image of the rocks that she has been painting. Every stone has a family member in a cartoon style.

This is a project that can include the whole family. These Rocks can then be used as decoration for your home.

Sketching your life

We recommend you to do some sketches and digital drawings of what is happening in the world right now. These drawings can be used as a visual recording of what has been happening in your life during this weird period. You can even post these images online, on your social media or an online portfolio so you can have them available for whenever you want to tell the story to future generations.

Participate in online competitions

Joining creative challenges on social media will keep your mind busy when you don’t know what to do with your time. You might end up enjoying it and who knows, maybe you win a prize.

Keep Learning

We do recommend you to take some of this time to learn a new skill; it could be by paying an online course, you could watch some Youtube tutorials, learn a new language, use a new art material like ink or oil, learn to code or how to use the software you normally don’t use. Any new thing that you decide to learn won’t be wasted time, that is for sure!

But Most Importantly

Take care of yourself. You can take this time to learn something new, but you can also take this time to relax and enjoy those little things that you usually don’t do because of your busy schedules. Say hello to your old friends (phone calls or texts only, of course!), design postcards to your loved ones, write stories and try new recipes. And always remember to keep positive.

We hope you find some motivation in this post. Remember: Stay home, Stay Safe

Love, Botticelli Team.
